2014

The year 2014 marked Israel's devastating Operation Protective Edge against the Gaza Strip, a 50-day military assault that killed over 2,200 Palestinians, including more than 500 children. This conflict was triggered by the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank and the subsequent killing of Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khdeir in Jerusalem. The assault represented the culmination of intensified siege warfare tactics and systematic collective punishment, with Israel dropping over 5,000 tons of explosives on one of the world's most densely populated areas.
